Instagram Collage Dimensions Guide: Best Sizes for Feed, Stories & Reels

1. Instagram Feed Posts

Square (1:1): 1080×1080 px — The classic Instagram size. Works for single photos and collages. Displays the same in feed and grid. Portrait (4:5): 1080×1350 px — Slightly taller than square. Often gets more reach. Ideal for 2×2 or 1×2 layouts. Landscape (1.91:1): 1080×566 px — Good for wide collages or horizontal strips. May appear smaller in feed.

Tip: Use our Image Stitching or Collage Maker tools. Set canvas to 1080×1080 for square, or 1080×1350 for portrait. For 3×3 grids, start with 1080×1080 so each cell is 360×360.

2. Instagram Stories

Stories size: 1080×1920 px (9:16). Full-screen vertical. Collages for Stories should be tall—e.g., a 1×3 vertical strip or a top/bottom split.

If you use a square image in Stories, Instagram adds letterboxing (black or blurred bars). To avoid that, design at 1080×1920. Our tools let you set custom canvas dimensions.

3. Instagram Reels

Reels size: 1080×1920 px (9:16), same as Stories. If you’re combining still images into a Reel, use this aspect ratio. Each frame can be a single image or a small grid within the 9:16 frame.

4. Multi-Photo Carousels (Feed)

Each slide in a carousel can be a different size, but consistency looks better. Use 1080×1080 or 1080×1350 for all slides. A common pattern: first slide is a collage or title card, following slides are single images or smaller grids.
